The best part was, between the speech and the Q&A, Jack Snyder went through a bleak description of Pakistani political history. Moments later, he was gently rebuked by the ambassador, who said, "I can't let that go by." Afterwards, Snyder said to the audience, "I told you you would learn something new!"

FYI, Veritas and CU International Relations Forum - are both SGB groups, and they continue to bring quality events to campus. To put funding in perspective, consider that this group - they have brought the Iranian, Israeli, and Pakistani ambassadors to campus - and the Veritas forum, both get less money than ABC groups with 10 members like "The Econ Society" (ie my extracurricular is that I'm trying to get a job)

So, was partitioning away from India a bad decision? Pakistan has not been able to hold down any kind of real democracy since (Benazir Bhutto, dynastic uber-tyrant - was the best they came up with). In India, they would have had a say in secular politics, because the Muslim vote their is like the Black/Hispanic vote here, not to mention a baller cricket team and possibly better Hindu-Muslim relations in India (since politicians would not be able to alienate such a huge populace).
