So long as bwog posts stuff that’s fun to read and doesn’t take itself too seriously (which it sometimes does) who cares what the content is?

Apart from more frequent posts and better editing, bwog hasn’t changed much over the past two years. If anything, it went from posting lots of pictures of cute kids to posting lots of pictures of hawks AND being awesome at getting to breaking news.
As for “waxing philosophical,” the editors obsess over bwog day and night. And some of them are philo majors.

Whenever I see articles like this, I check out the about section to see whether this falls under the purview of Bwog — I suppose this falls under the “cracked-out features?” I sometimes think people complain about Bwog because it tries to do too much, so it suffers from a lack of clarity of mission (the range of Bwog has increased tremendously in the past two years). So, I just wonder: in terms of the “goal” or “purpose” of Bwog, what do articles like these accomplish? Is there a large enough audience to merit a book club, movie rental advice, NYU perception of Columbia, recipe tips, etc? Or should you just stick to what you’re really good at — being a campus gossip/information hub? I’m not sure, but I wonder if Bwog ever waxes philosophical and asks itself these questions — I’d think you’d benefit.

Then again, I could just be totally off on what the purpose of a blog is. I’m kind of in the dark with these things…
