Use Flex At A Drugstore…20 Blocks Away

There’s now a drugstore option for your Flex points, but you’ll have to walk to 96th Street (aka “the ends of the Earth”) to use it. According to an email from Student Services’s Michael Novielli, the CVS at 96th and Amsterdam will be accepting Flex “by the end of July.”

As for other, closer options, Novielli wrote, “We realize that other neighborhood drugstores are popular with students, but they have not responded to our invitations to join the program so we wanted to have at least one drugstore option for you on it.” Novielli declined further comment on why chains like Duane Reade and Rite Aid did not step up to the plate. Perhaps they feared being unable to handle Flex’s lightning quickness.

Still, at least the faraway land of 96th and Amsterdam is now under the domain of Flex. But beware, traveler: Bwog hears that the natives don’t even have an opinion on GS students. The horror.

Sorry, I don’t understand the comment in the last paragraph — can someone explain it to me? Thanks!

  • GSer

    Seriously — I just don’t get it… Maybe just a clue? Please??

  • ...

you’re old, strange, take 1 class and screw up the curve for the rest of us. You also, however, may be James Franco. That’s pretty much it.

    • MAD GSer

Would BWOG give up this constant hostility towards GS? Honestly, it amazes me. If BWOG continues in this vein, I’ll talk with more mature minds at CU about it. thanks

  • any word on...Posted from campus

whether we can use our flex to buy cigarettes, beer, etc. at said drugstore? i know there’s a ban on alcohol at most places, but will cvs apply those rules, also to tobacco and such?

James Franco is a graduate student in the School of Arts. Not a GS student. Not everyone at Columbia is an undergraduate. Sorry, please play again.

  • ya'll

The GS hatred is pretty fucking stupid. Not only are there a lot of reallly smart people in GS, I assume more of them know why they’re going to Columbia than normal undergrads, since they’re not applying as a reaction to being a high school senior.

A lot of GS students are in their early or middle 20s.

  • New Pharmacies Please!

Another reason why the Rite Aid on 110th and the Duane Reade on 111th are tewwwwibbble…

  • who doesnt

just shop at hartley chemists… errr… hartley pharmacy :)

    • GSer

Agree here 200%…. Hartley is amazing… the pharmacist there actually reminds me in advance of when my refills are due, is proactive about meeting my rather complicated insurance needs, and is consistently cheerful and informative… Take THAT, Duane Reade — Hartley ROCKS
