@Anonymous It’s actually phrased, “You don’t reach the happiness plateau until a higher rate in New York.” Although this is partially a reflection of the higher cost of living in New York, this is also because there are a greater variety of cool things to do in New York. Although it will cost you money to go to see Broadway shows, that’s simply not an option for people in rural areas, and hence not included in their sum total, but not because New Yorkers are sadder for not being able to see Broadway shows.
