The newest and largest round of global climate-change talks, the United Nations Climate Change Conference aka COP21, began yesterday in Paris. As opposed to previous talks which attempted to create a comprehensive and binding agreement, COP21 is more potluck-style, with each nation offering what it can for the future. (NYT)

The people of Burkina Faso chose Roch Marc Christian Kaboré as their president, electing somebody other than Blaise Compaoré for the first time in 27 years. Soldiers loyal to Compaoré had attempted to launch a coup, but protesters stopped them in their tracks. (Yahoo News)

Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook (but you probably knew that already), announced two major things yesterday: he is giving away %99 of his Facebook shares, which amounts to $45 billion, and his wife gave birth to a baby girl named Max.
