So you’re definitely getting Baked by Melissa, going to the Tank Top party (once the “Pot Party”), or getting seeds from the John Jay Lounge. It’s cute how CU students come together on 4/20 to produce the most insinuation-laden event names. That said, you can’t really compete with your professor’s itinerary on 4/20—they’re in academia! We present to you our predictions for their behavior this evening.

Don’t forget to check out the video at the end of our post, alum Kevin Karn’s loving tribute to weed, circa 1980. It’s one of the few traditions we have.

Getting High

  • “Reading Descartes.”
  • “Going to a local elementary school and pulling open the doors of moving cars.”
  • “US history prof will open lecture with the historical beginning of Pineapple Express.
  • “Two of my music teachers are definitely smoking together and bitching about the system.”

Getting Stoned

  • “She’s obsessed with The Smiths, so probably some Morrissey and Marijuana.”
  • “Joining the Marching Band.”
  • “CS prof is telling their class how the US government’s internet defense would be better if the CIA weren’t so strict about not hiring coders who smoke weed.”
  • “Architecture prof will spend all of lecture telling stories about how, in grad school, they and their friends snuck into cool buildings to take pictures of them.”
  • “Actually definitely getting stoned after grading is done. Confirmed.”

Getting Baked

  • “Absent for unavoidable personal commitments.”
  • “She said to my class last week, while we were studying the cult of Dionysus, ‘The entire decade of the sixties was a Dionysian cult experience. For me, anyway.’ So I feel like maybe she’ll be going to the Met while high and staring at vase paintings for the afternoon.”
  • “Orgo prof will be synthesizing some dank shit.”

Enjoy the 30 seconds of chanting “Fucked up! Fucked up!”, the leisurely shots of bearded men holding bongs, the insensitive and anthropological comments made about Barnard students, and the overall vibe of elitism and vulgarity.
