Conversation & Reflection

It’s been an emotional twenty-four hours for many students on campus. Many classes this morning were cancelled, and professors and student organizations alike are offering support to anyone who needs it. With that in mind, Bwog has compiled a list of campus resources and events on campus in the wake of the results of this presidential election.

On-campus resources:

On-campus events (all today):

  • Post-Election Conversation and Reflection hosted by the CU Office of University Life, 5 to 7pm, Lerner 555.
  • Post-Election Panel and Community Discussion with Members of the Barnard Faculty (including Provost Bell, Prof. Belinda Archibong (Economics), Prof. Kim Johnson (Political Science), Prof. Kate Krimmel (Political Science), and Prof. Michael Miller (Political Science)), 4:15pm, Altschul 202.
  • Community Healing Space in Well-Woman, 1pm to 2am, 119 Reid, Barnard and Columbia students all welcome, snacks provided. This space prioritizes the healing of people of marginalized identities.
  • Reflection and Conversation with the University Task Force for Diversity and Inclusion, 5 to 7 pm, on the 7th floor of Jerome Green Hall (The Law School Case Lounge)
  • Safe Space hosted by Proud Colors, 9pm in the IRC (552 West 114th Street)

Columbia Psychological Services’ drop-in hours this week:

  • Today (Wednesday) from 6 – 9pm with Dr. Elisheva Hoffman in Lerner 5
  • Today (Wednesday) from 6-9 pm with Dr. Susan Vitti in 600 W. 113th Street, Room 2BB
  • Tomorrow (Thursday) from 6- 9 pm with Dr. Andrew Colitz in Lerner 5
  • Tomorrow (Thursday) from 5-7 pm with Dr. Kori Bennet in Lerner. This is a drop in specializing in supporting queer&trans students.
  • Tomorrow (Thursday) from 5:30 – 7:00pm with Dr. Addette Williams in the IRC (552 W. 114th Street)
  • Tomorrow (Thursday) from 6 -9 pm with Dr. Rush Williams in 115 Hartley Hall

Off-campus resources and events:

  • The Trevor Project: a leading national organization providing crisis intervention services to LGBTQ+ people, (866) 488-7386.
  • IMAlive crisis chat: provides online one-on-one chat with volunteers for support and someone to talk to.
  • Crisis text line: text 741741 for support.
  • We Stand Together: rally in Columbus Circle, 4:30 to 6pm.
