Field Notes: It’s Fall, Bitches Edition

Written by

This place is such a mess, but it just keeps bringing us back.

It may be getting colder, but Columbia students still find time to do crazy things! Send in your field notes to tips@bwog.com for a feature.

Drinking/Bar Adventures:

  • Threw an Earth, Wind, & Fire-themed party on September 21st. Five drinks in, read my two-page music hum essay on “September” to everyone.
  • Almost burst into tears when the bouncer at a work party tried to card me (and he let me in).
  • Walked into 1020, heard a Kid Rock song playing, and promptly walked out.
  • Told myself on Thursday afternoon I wouldn’t drink any liquor; spent Thursday night drinking homemade mojitos before making my way to Mel’s for Cape Codders.
  • got blackout drunk, woke up the next day and found out that two of my floormates decided it was a good idea to fuck…lol @ the next 8 months.
  • Witnessed a first year trying to bribe the 1020 bouncer with a crisp $20 bill.

Tinder Adventures:

  • went to Sig Nu darty instead of going on a wholesome Tinder date then proceeded to read 3 books of the Odyssey still drunk.
  • matched with a girl on tinder that looks eerily similar to my ex.
  • got into a long conversation with someone on tinder about mystical realms.
  • Ran into someone I matched on tinder at JJs.

Food Adventures:

  • Found out that Trader Joe’s has FROZEN CHOCOLATE-COVERED STRAWBERRIES (while high) which improved my entire weekend.
  • Went to Crif Dogs for the first time and ate my weight in cheese fries.
  • Marked off lots of restaurants on my bucket list and validated my spending as “self-care.”
  • Ate Chick-fil-a for the first time in a month.
  • Went to Soho and spent all my money so now I’m living off a stick of cheese
  • Traveled an hour for tacos.
  • Almost set the microwave on fire while making Easy-Mac, called my RA and the RA on duty in a panic but they said it was fine.
  • Cooked possibly the greatest meal I’ve ever created: pan-seared steak with a red wine pan sauce and roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

Wholesome Adventures:

  • Went on a Duane Reade date with my roommate.
  • Walked down by the water with my boyfriend in Williamsburg. It was cute and romantic as fuck.
  • Got a new tattoo/tattoos!
  • Bumped into Cornel West (or his doppelgänger) at 116th
  • Went home to Philadelphia and took a 12-hour nap with my chihuahua.

  1. Over the weekend

    Brett Kavanaugh grabbed my butt.

  2. Bwog is so-o-o grown-up. And cool.

OK, we get it: You're grown-up. You're SO-O-O grown-up. And cool. Could we maybe have a couple of days without a mention of drinking (and smoking)? Really. We promise we won't think you're still a bunch of middle school nerds.
