Can You Be Witty On Command? Apply to Be A Daily Editor!

We won’t make you jump through too many hoops

As we prepare for the next semester, Bwog is looking for some new talent on our team.  If you think you would be a good addition, apply to be a daily editor.  Daily editors have the joy of dedicating one day per week to Bwog.  They write and edit articles, dun staff writers to get their shit in on time via Google Chat, and schedule posts for the day.  If something big and unexpected happens somewhere around Morningside, it is their job to run out and see what’s up.  Daily editors are also relied on to be constantly vigilant in their everyday life, tipping whatever seems interesting and relevant.  As a daily, you earn the right to put “WordPress” and “Extremely Basic HTML” on your resume under the Skills section.  You also earn the right to free drinks from the staff.

Applications are due at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, December 11 to editors@bwog.com. Hop to it.

Application after the jump

Become a Daily Editor and Find Purpose in Life

Bwog is looking for some bright-eyed youngins to serve as our newest daily editors.

“What do dailies do?” one might wonder, as his/her (okay, your) bloodshot eyes, illuminated by the sickly 3 am glow of a laptop screen, scan this very page.

Daily editors write and edit articles, pester other staff writers, and schedule posts. Daily editors are responsible for hustling around Morningside, and for constant tipping. Daily editors learn no less than three HTML tags, and get to drink free beer with the staff.

If the above sounds like a sweet deal to you, fill out the below application and email it to editors@bwog.com by Friday, September 7. Application below.

Regarding Bwog:

  • You are totally crushing on Bwog! Pour your love in a letter.
  • Briefly explain one Bwog post you liked and one you didn’t.
  • What’s your favorite Bwog tag?
  • Draw Bwog, channeling all of the artistic license and passion of Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic. (see above)

Regarding Yourself:

  • You’re on a first date with Bwog! What movie are you taking us to see? What snacks will we share?
  • Dream up a Bwog post of your choice. A mock free food alert, feature idea—anything you like. Include a captioned picture.
  • What are some areas of Columbia life you’re interested in writing about (student government, city, arts, PrezBo’s Twitter, sports, food, food trucks, Butler, public bathrooms, et cetera…)?
  • Anything else you want to tell us about yourself?
  • Being a Daily Editor is a BFD! You need to prepare posts the night before, constantly be available on your day to investigate, interview, take pictures, gChat, and generally make sure things run smoothly. Which day(s) of the week would you be able to commit to Bwog, in addition to our Sunday meeting?

Too much work? We’d love to have you as a contributor to pitch story ideas and cover events. Keep an eye out for our Official First Meeting Announcement at the start of next semester!

*There is also some reporting, writing, and editing involved…
