Our esteemed Editor-in-Chief of The Blue & White tells us that the sprinklers are spouting water on River 2 and the rooms on the first floor are threatened by the amount of water building up.

Residents coming out of the building say they smell gas but no one has been able to confirm the source of the problem.  We’ll let you know once we know more!

Update, 2:36 p.m.: Turns out it’s not a gas leak. Facilities tell us it’s just the smell of the water that’s been in the sprinkler system, unused, for many years. They’re still having trouble turning the water off and they might have to shut down the entire building’s water temporarily.

Update, 3:15 p.m.: Public Safety is allowing River residents to return to their rooms. The water leak has been stopped, though not before rooms on the first and second floors sustained a significant amount of water damage.

At this point no one is able to tell Bwog what triggered the sprinkler system in the first place.
