Columbia Defeats Pirates

Written by

That is great, fresh-faced, American school spirit you’re flying there… ΑΔΦ. Didn’t it used to be a slightly less patriotic jolly roger?  Bwog ran into ADP’s house manager on the street, who could not explain the change in flag, but suspects it may be temporary.

  4. russki

    much improved, gents. thx.

  5. Little did they know

They'll find out in the fall that Columbia annexed their house for administrative offices.

    Looks like a consulate building.

  7. why

ADP gets a house is beyond me. I've yet to hear of a single event or publication sponsored by them. I'm sure there are plenty of other groups more deserving of that space.

  8. Dear you guys,

Words cannot express how much I hate you guys. As we fight our way northward into the great unknown, only that one thing remains certain: that I hate you guys with every tired muscle in my Confederate body. Because I will not stop until we have won it all, and you guys are my slaves. Because, I hate you guys. I hate you guys so very very much.

  9. this article

is a bit misleading. it seems to imply that columbia has taken over adp. false.

adp actually bought there house outright recently from the university. there was a long-term lease since the 1980s.

the flags at adp usually rotate on a whim. jolly roger, adp, american, or whatever else we feel like. there was the flag of sweden up for over a year a while back. not sure why there is a columbia flag now, but whatever.

  10. yeah...

it is pretty weird that the first greek organization at columbia, which originally financed the building of the house and has recently gained complete ownership of the property/has invested copious amounts of money in its renovation, and whose members throw pretty well-publicized events on a regular basis, should get its own space.

    wtf, right?

  11. Forgive me for suggesting the obvious

But aren't there a couple of movies shooting on campus right now? My guess would be that the flag got switched by a details-oriented director.

    Total conjecture, though.

  12. pretentious brit

ADP could use a good powerwash. facade's just a spot smudgier than the neighbouring buildings'.

I assure you all that the Columbia flag is temporary, I'm in possession of the pirate flag and it is tucked away safely in upstate NY.

First they lose their beloved moose head, now their flag! What's next?!

ADP's alums (who financed the purchase of the house) don't like the pirate flag, hence it's not up. This isn't the first time that their the alums have made them take it down. It was missing half of last year.
