9 out of 11 races are uncontested? Glad to see that spirit of '68 is alive and well.

at least most positions were contested with internal elections... wtf general elections? especially when ESC has to run CCSC as well...

    • ESC runs CCSC elections?

get your facts straight. they're run separately run.

    • Anonymous

      Lol you're joking right?

ESC does not run CCSC at all, and I'm confused as to how you could even think this because I can't think of one thing that ESC has done on its own this year to improve student life and well-being on campus.

Further, it has been my experience that many of those who serve on ESC really don't do anything at all, not showing up to or helping with events that are planned in conjunction with the other undergraduate councils.

If anything, it's the other way around. Get your facts straight.

        "it has been my experience..."
so...why don't you just tell esc this? i wonder if that would help solve the problem

      • engineer

you can’t think of anything that ESC has done to help student life?
        are you fucking kidding me?
        - they’ve been working on a policy to help make non-technical electives pass-fail so that engineers can pursue their other academic interests
        - the ESC policy committee was the one who was pushing for a more efficient packaging center.
        - they’ve been working on gathering ideas to renovate the carleton lounge in mudd to make it a better student center.
        - they fund student groups that are led by and of interest to engineers.
before you start saying random shit that you obviously don’t know about, get your facts straight.

Also, it's pretty sad that nearly everyone here is running uncontested, and a lot of them are freshmen (when I say a lot of here I mean for the positions that are open to all classes). Glad to see freshmen wanting to get involved, hopefully they actually care about student life on campus and aren't doing this to pad their resumes..

they should just merge the councils, this is fucking wasteful

  7. sooooo

good job ESC 2011! your legacy = failed attempt at external elections

  8. Anonymous

the only position that kind of matters is contested by 3 people. the rest is more or less a circlejerk

  9. Anonymous

lol fucking lol. external elections are big fucking deal

  10. Student Council

has always been bullshit. Unite all resume-whores!

  11. Anonymous

You could do it for a year, put it on your resume and leave. People don't stick around all four years for jokes idiot!

don't really care about the last 2. i would recommend they also pursue making the business school courses offered to CC open to SEAS undergrads. also expand the minor selection, allow SEAS undergrads to get credit for visual art courses or creative writing courses. we have diverse interests. you hear me student council?

      hello???

      • Tim Qin

Those are some great ideas. More minors and credit for visual arts classes are some of the things ESC has looked into this semester. We plan to continue pursuing those initiatives next year among others.

You don't care about the last two? So you dont give a shit about any student groups on campus? Cool.
