Three things you learned at Columbia:

  1. Your relationship with your family will structure the way you see the world no matter how many times you change your major.
  2. Your relationships with your friends will be the stages upon which you are asked to expose, challenge, and expand that vision.
  3. Manifestations of race, gender, and class are not as visible as we assume them to be.

Advice for the class of 2016: Expose. Focus. Shatter. Push. Feel uncomfortable. This place is rich with possibility.

Regrets? Not pushing myself to name the difference between fear and shame.
