Windows Are The Eyes To SSOL

Written by

More of these, but virtual

Set your alarms, because the first of two additional registration windows for the Fall term begins bright and early tomorrow morning. According to Registrar Barry Kane, we’ll be able to take another stab at adding and dropping classes for the coming months from June 11 through June 22, and then again from July 30th through August 10th. Also, this (!!):

We have heard from many of you that it would be helpful if the course syllabi could be made available to students as you register for classes. We have therefore worked with CUIT to make the home and syllabus section in the New CourseWorks sites available to students a few days before and during each registration period. You can access the New CourseWorks site from the Bulletin by clicking on “More Info” directing you to the Directory of Classes and then by clicking on the “CourseWorks” link.

His entire email, which contains information about the 2012 Fall film classes, can be found after the jump.

To All of Our Undergraduate Students:

I hope that you had a productive and rewarding spring semester and are now enjoying the more unstructured time that the summer months offer us.

I write to let you know that we will once again be offering you additional registration opportunities prior to the start of the fall 2012 term. These additional registration windows again follow the work and recommendations of the Classroom Committee, chaired by Professor Jean Howard. You will be able to add and drop classes, online through SSOL, during the following days and times:

Monday, June 11th, through Friday, June 22nd

Monday, July 30th, through Friday, August 10th

Note that these registration periods will be open to all continuing students and there will be no registration priority on the basis of class standing.

The intent of the upcoming registration windows is to ensure that course enrollments are as accurate as possible prior to the start of the fall semester, thus enhancing classroom allocation and TA assignments as well as assisting you in refining your program of study much earlier in the course enrollment process.

Special Note regarding Course Syllabi:

We have heard from many of you that it would be helpful if the course syllabi could be made available to students as you register for classes. We have therefore worked with CUIT to make the home and syllabus section in the New CourseWorks sites available to students a few days before and during each registration period. You can access the New CourseWorks site from the Bulletin by clicking on “More Info” directing you to the Directory of Classes and then by clicking on the “CourseWorks” link.

Special Note regarding Fall 2012 Film courses:

During the registration period in April, some students were not able to register for two Film Studies courses, FILM W 3001 Intro – Study and Theory of Film (Monday 2:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Call # 81846) and FILM W 4098 Film Theory I (Monday 10:00 a.m. to 1:50 p.m., Call # 96946), because of unexpected registration system programming issues. The problem has been resolved, and eligible students can now register online for these courses and their respective required discussion sections, FILM W 3011 and FILM W 4198. If you are interested in registering for either of these two courses, be sure to also register for the required discussion section. Registration in a discussion section is mandatory to secure your space in undergraduate Film Studies lectures.

See your primary academic adviser if you have any questions about your program of study or the summer registration windows.

Yours,
