ESC: Convent, Arts Initiative, Tree-Lighting, and BJ’s

Written by

Ben and Jerry’s has never been so suggestive.

As always, our intrepid investigator Aria Sharma went to this week’s Engineering Student Council meeting. Here is her report:

This week’s meeting was off to a robust start after a rather long break with hurricanes and elections and such. Dean Kromm visited ESC to discuss the plans for the Convent residential living space. Aside from showing off schematics and color blocks, Dean Kromm spoke of the space being used as special-interest housing. The discussion focused on brainstorming the types and number of special interest groups that could be housed there.

Will Hughes, CCSC VP Policy, was back to discuss the CU Arts Initiative, again. Students are fighting for increased funding from the Office of the President, a new director whose sole job is to oversee the initiative, and to have the it moved out of the School of the Arts, among other issues. ESC voted unanimously to pass a resolution on the Arts Initiative (the same resolution already supported by SGA).

Tree-Lighting is coming! Get pumped because campus is going to get a whole lost more magical on Thursday, November 29th from 6-7pm. Plus, there will be beanies as giveaways this year! To continue with the fun festivities, ESC is planning on holding an event the week after Tree-Lighting called “Tis The Season” to provide an additional fun event in the absence of Backyard Barbeque. Come to see your ESC members in costume!

There will be a DJ’s and BJ’s event on November 14th from 7-9pm in the Broadway Room. (Important note: BJ is Ben & Jerry’s). Ice cream will be served along with a movie ticket raffle and 3 student DJ sets.
