We love the Lions

Finally. At long last. It’s over.

The Lions rolled over Wagner 26-3 tonight to win their first football game since they beat Cornell 34-17 on November 10th, 2012, exactly 35 months to the date.

Take some time to process this.

Running back Cameron Molina scored from six yards out, and with the help of a defensive fumble recovery for another touchdown and a Cameron Nizialek field goal, the Lions led 17-0 after just one quarter.

And then, not even two minutes into the second quarter, quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg ran 32 yards for another touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, Wagner returner DeAngelo James fumbled recovered his own fumble inside the Wagner end zone, giving Columbia another two points and the ball.

With a 26-3 lead at halftime, the Lions never looked back.

Almost five minutes to the end, a tipped ball resulted in an interception by Columbia Defensive Lineman JD Hurt.

Columbia hosts Penn (1-3) next Saturday at 3:30 pm for Homecoming. Coach Al Bagnoli will face his former team for the first time with a win under his belt.
