Happening in the world: Venezuela is still experiencing mass power cuts, which started on Thursday. They are currently affecting 14 of 23 Venezuelan states. The blackouts have been blamed on problems at a major hydroelectric plant, but incumbent president Nicolas Maduro has blamed them on “sabotage”. (BBC)

Happening in the US: 4 twisters touched down in Arkansas and Louisiana on Saturday, with winds in some areas reaching up to 60 mph. So far, only minor injuries have been reported. (ABC News)

Happening in NYC: A new plan to protect NYC against rising sea levels includes expanding Lower Manhattan into the East River. Scientists predict that by 2100, the surrounding sea levels could rise as much as six feet. (Gothamist)
