Spring has sprung and so forth comes Spring sports season! Or should I say… spring bworts season? Bwog’s sports editor has everything you need to know about the status of each and every Columbia rowing race and softball match that went down this weekend!

Women’s Rowing: This Saturday, the women’s rowing team started their season at the Doc Hosea Invitational in New Jersey where they placed 9th out of 12 teams.

Softball: The softball team had three games this weekend against Princeton. Columbia lost the first one on Friday (11-5), but came back on Saturday with two wins (2-1, 5-4) to win the series.

Lightweight Rowing: Our lightweight rowing team had four races against Princeton on Saturday which ended in two wins and two losses for the lions. Princeton took the first and third varsity races while Columbia took second and fourth.

Men’s Tennis: Keeping with their clean slate of home matches, the men’s tennis team beat Buffalo 4-0 on Friday.

Women’s Tennis: The women’s team had it’s 12th consecutive win of the season in its first Ivy League game against Cornell making their overall record 12-1 with an Ivy record of 1-0. The 12th win also broke a school record for consecutive wins set in 2014.

Men’s Swimming and Diving: Sophomore diver Jonathon Suckow placed 5th overall in the 3-meter diving competition at this year’s NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Texas on Friday night. He also earned All-America honors, making huge strides for Columbia diving and for his own personal diving career.

Men’s Baseball: Along with the softball team, the men’s baseball team also had an exciting series this weekend, winning one game (23-9) and losing one game (23-1), both to Dartmouth, on Saturday, but coming back with a final win on Sunday (11-1) to take the series.

Lacrosse: The women’s lacrosse team faced another difficult opponent this weekend, losing to Hofstra 13-8.
