As fummer is upon us–that is, the time between summer and fall when the morning chill requires a sweatshirt that later gets soaked in sweat around 1 pm–we shall celebrate the equinox early and in proper autumnal fashion.

Happening in the World: Automated leaf monitoring system aids Nova Scotian scientists in their research on the effect of climate change on fall foliage. Researchers are using automated cameras that track the change in color of the foliage, which experts expect to start later in the autumn. Essentially, autumn is shrinking, but here is what experts are doing to try and save your instagramable vegetation!

Happening in the US: For all of the binge-watchers that prioritize Netflix above nightly readings (don’t we all, though?), this list is worth checking out. Has your favorite show been renewed or has it been lost to the sands of time and low viewership? Butler can wait, but these 40 TV shows airing in autumn truly cannot. (Guardian)

Happening in NYC: Please find any excuse to make a reservation at the most ornately decorated, charming, and beautiful rooftop restaurant this fall.  Your res at Eataly’s newest rooftop restaurant, Serra by Birreria, could be to celebrate your half birthday, quarter birthday, or the professor whose midterm was unexpectedly easy. Cheers to all three! (Timeout)

Happening on Campus: Magic and splendor abound during this time of year, and Morningside Lights provides just that. Come to this FREE event tonight to experience the art of unique lanterns and elevate your connection to the Morningside Heights community. The procession begins at 8 pm at 116th and Morningside Drive and lasts approximately 45 minutes, returning to Columbia’s campus.

Weekly Song Recommendation: “Superposition” by Young the Giant gracefully accompanies your ears as you lay down on the fluffy Columbia grass, inhaling that cool fummer air and relishing your place in the world in that moment.
