Pret A Manger opened their Columbia location on Broadway between 115th and 116th almost two years ago. To celebrate its (almost) second birthday, Bwog Staff has compiled its most notable experiences.

We got lucky in Pret!

“I got a free $12 salmon salad by being nice and chatting with the cashier”

“[I] got a free coffee in Pret!!”

Some Bwoggers found love at Pret:

“I went on a wholesome date with Pret involved with a BEAUTIFUL girl. We went to Pret and got coffees and strolled around Riverside Park.”

…And some Bwoggers horrifyingly did not:

“I went on a really bad date to Pret. He asked me to get coffee and then didn’t get anything at Pret? Like not even a water or tea or juice. It was a weird vibe bc I was sitting there sipping my coffee and he was staring at me. Like why ask me to coffee if you’re just gonna sit there?? And he came all the way up to MoHi from Brooklyn?? We could’ve just gone somewhere else”

“[I] avoided eye contact with a Tinder match in Pret.”

“It was late at night, I wasn’t feeling well, so I went to Pret to get some food to feel better. I looked like a wet dog, with wet hair. At the register, the cashier asked me if I was just running through the rain. I said no: that I had just worked out, then took a shower.

The cashier replied, “oh so you got that sexy wet hair going on,” then proceeded to give me extra change and says it’s on him.

He then asked if I wanted some cookies. I said no, not wanting to spend extra money. He gave me three cookies anyway and said it’s on him.

I then asked for his name because he’s so nice. He asked me as well and proceeded to say he might not remember my name, but he’ll remember my eyes and face because my face is so very beautiful.”

Some cried out their Barnumbia woes:

“[I] cried in Pret eating a cheese croissant.”

Some actually love the food:

“The mac ‘n’ cheese is amazing warm food for these bitter cold days.”

And some wouldn’t know:

“I have gone to this school for three years and somehow I have never stepped foot inside of Pret. I don’t know how to pronounce it or what they serve and at this point, I’m too afraid to ask”

And of course, Bwoggers did what Bwog does best in Pret:

“[I] wrote multiple Bwog articles in Pret.”

Happy second birthday, Pret! Here’s to many more bad dates, cheese croissaints, and late-night coffee runs.
