Happening in the World: A magnitude-5.7 earthquake has struck the Turkey-Iran border, impacting communities in both countries.  The earthquake has killed 90 people in the Turkish city of Van and has affected dozens of villages in Iran, although no Iranian deaths have been reported.  Iran and Turkey are among the most earthquake-prone countries in the world, as major faultlines run through both of the countires. Happening in NYC: Conflict emerges as New York’s plastic bag ban plans to go into effect on March 1st.  Governor Cuomo is being criticized for not taking into account the financial implications the ban has, with the 5-cent fee on paper bags and impacts t0 the 13,000 bodegas across the City who are not prepared for the change.  Officials state that while the ban kicks off in a week, enforcement of the ban will not occur until months later.
