What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2023?

  1. I feel cliche but — if there’s one thing I’ve learned from having college suddenly cut short, it’s to always live in the present. In some ways (SOME ways), I feel lucky that we didn’t know when we were about to say goodbye. Instead of preemptively feeling sad about things we knew we’d someday miss or trying to do everything right or going to every single event, we did what we wanted moment to moment, the way we would have if we thought things would never end. Ultimately, maybe that was the right way to do it.
  2. Always try to break the ice/say hi first. Don’t wait to see if the other person will smile or nod at you on the Lerner ramps — do it yourself! If you’re an incoming first year, it’s likely that you’ve awkwardly interacted with some people on social media before arriving on campus. When you meet these people in person, don’t reintroduce yourself or pretend the interactions didn’t happen! Be honest and tell them you LOVE their Instagram and the dog they got last year. It applies to seniors too. Acknowledge the people from your first year seminars! If you remember them, they remember you too.
  3. Find friends who will remember to get you a ticket to John Jay Thanksgiving because you WILL forget.

“Back in my day…”
M2M. Nussbaum and Wu. AMIGOS. Shoe store no one went to :/. NO MILSTEIN (count yr blessings). Emailed construction updates from qvettel. 109 Gourmet Deli was NOT the palace you see today

Favorite Columbia controversy?
The stacks of VHS movies (often rom-coms?) behind the candy/checkout aisle of Appletree.

What was your favorite class at Columbia?
The 19th Century European Novel with Dames and Intro to Linguistics with McWhorter. Or anything with Quigley or Eisendrath. You’ll walk out of these classes thinking THIS is why I go here. THIS is what makes it worth it. And then you should call your parents and tell them that — they will be so happy to hear it!!!
Also I’ve never even taken a full course with Vandenburg but womb tomb and the mother becoming the (m)other has changed everything for me…

Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese?
When I was little I wanted to be a cheesemonger. This question is easy for me!!!!!!

Whom would you like to thank?
My family. My friends. Mars. My suitemates for helping me through everything always. My sister for inspiring my entire life. The booth in the back of 1020. Plimpton Hall. My mom for wishing me good luck when I responded “going” on the Facebook event for Kingsmen auditions. The board of Latenite and my fearless co-pres Savannah. The entire senior class. Milstein green chairs. Everyone, everyone, everyone. I miss you already.

One thing to do before graduating:
Latenite :) try it u mite like :0

Any regrets?
Still waiting to get my little :/
Also I haven’t invented anything yet
