What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2024?

  1. As much as you can, and as much as you’re able to ignore the real world & adulthood, take the time to explore the things that might interest you. At Columbia, I’ve both intentionally found and unknowingly stumbled into someone or something new around many corners. I became a radio DJ, tried dance, and did all things blockchain-related. A whole world of experiences is waiting for you, so take a leap of faith, and put yourself out there (in a manner that is manageable for you).
  2. There is plenty of support to fund your ~dream~. This school has generously provided me a lot of financial resources to conduct research and engage in experiential learning around the globe. When you find opportunities that excite you, work with the school, your advisor, or student mentors to find the resources that can make it a little easier on your wallet.
  3. College is the best time to understand and navigate your mental and emotional health! Let’s be honest, there’s usually a lot going on, academically or socially, and it can be really uplifting to talk to someone who will objectively listen to you and be a sounding board. Some of the university’s resources (like Furman, CPS) are accessible for everyone and incredibly useful.

“Back in my day…”
Sorry, it is still my day until 10AM on May 18th. Check again later!

Favorite Columbia controversy?
Cancelled Gucci Mane :(

What was your favorite class at Columbia?
Brazil EdTech Challenge with Sarah Holloway! She is a phenomenal professor and one of the best that Columbia has to offer. Apply for her yearly design course to explore education, technology, and development economics and travel to places like São Paulo. Another great experience is Salsa, Soca, and Reggae with Chris Washburne. This class was the absolute highlight of my junior year—I got to attend a ton of concerts in the city, meet up-and-coming artists, and learn about how musical and cultural traditions took shape across different countries in the Caribbean. Highly recommend.

Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese?
I’m vegetarian, not vegan! I’ll keep the cheese.

Whom would you like to thank?
My family, friends, mentors, teachers, the guy at Roti Roll, and the city that never sleeps.

One thing to do before graduating:
Go to Milon Bangladesh and tell them that I sent you.

Any regrets?
Some! But, that’s college. Onwards and upwards!
