The new start to the week brings many new starts for the future of Brexit, some turtles, Bernie Sanders, and you!
Happening in the World: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was forced to ask for an extension on the Brexit vote by a group of mixed- party politicians. It is likely that EU leaders will approve this extension in an effort to avoid the economic unrest a vote on the 31st would likely cause though it is unclear at this time when the vote will be pushed back to. Happening in the US: Two Florida men were found with hundreds of turtles who were being illegally sold abroad on the black market in Asia. It is estimated that they sold over 4,000 turtles over the past six months with breeds ranging from common native ones to a Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle, the most endangered sea turtle. (CNN)
Happening in New York: During a rally in New York City, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez officially endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders for the 2020 presidential race. Both politicians have focused their platforms on the working class and with the support from AOC, Sanders is likely to gain even more progressive voters than before. (CNN)
Happening on Campus: This Monday, October 21, from 6 to 7 pm there will be a workshop in Uris Hall about fighting Imposter Syndrome. Senior psychologist Shirley Matthews will be leading a discussion about the causes of Imposter Syndrome and how students can effectively deal with it.
