Jessica Blue and Charlie White were soulmates waiting to find each other!!! They found love and also found something even more powerful… the power of student journalism!!!!
Jessica Blue had long caramel colored hair, pink lips red as strawberries, and wore a dark green jacket and jeans with rips at the knee. She also wore stylish gray boots. Her hair was shiny and pulled back into a ponytail. She went to Columbia University in New York City, where she studied English to one day become a journalist. Everyone wanted to be friends with Jessica Blue, but she mostly kept to herself. She had one best friend.
“Jessica,” said Jessica Blue’s best friend. “I know you’re busy studying/brooding/being cool, but you should come to the party at Mia Cole’s tonight! It’s going to be crazy radical magical fun. There will be lots of alcohol.”
Mia Cole threw crazy parties. There was always lots of alcohol and fun snacks like pretzels and Triscuits. Everyone had crazy stories from the parties, like when Dan Nicks threw up on the stoop!!!
Jessica thought for a second and then said “No thanks. I have to study for my journalism final.” Jessica was very smart and studious.
“Ugh fine!” said Jessica Blue’s friend. She walked off, flipping her shiny curly dark hair behind her shoulder.
– Three hours later –
Jessica stared out the window, the party scene going crazy below her. Kids were shouting on the streets, laughing with their friends, playing music. She had finished studying for her final. Something inside her yearned for the ruckus below. Would her best friend still be at Mia Cole’s party?
Jessica got up from her bed and put on a sparkly black top and red lipstick. She looked like Hailee Steinfeld. She took the elevator down to the party.
“Hi! It’s Jessica,” shouted a crazy frat person when she walked into the party. “The coolest cat at Columbia. How is it hanging?”
“It’s hanging good, Josh,” said Jessica, acting cool and unbothered, though really she was very nervous.
“Can I get you some alcohol? Some chips?” asked Crazy Frat Funny Boy Josh.
“I’ll take some chips, please.” said Jessica. She smoothed her shirt and hoped that her lipstick wasn’t smudged. The lights were purple at the party. The music pumped funky kick-ass 2000s tunes into the air. Kids nodded and danced with each other. There were pizza boxes everywhere and red solo cups on every windowsill! Jessica saw her best friend dancing with Mia Cole.
“Oh my gosh, Jessica!” said her best friend and Mia Cole in unison. “We’re so glad you’re here!”
All of the sudden Jessica bumped into a boy with green eyes and floppy hair and three tattoos on his upper right arm. He smelled like the forest!! She gazed into his piercing eyes, as he leaned down and whispered. “Hello,” he said. “My name is Charlie White.”
Charlie and Jessica stared at each other for several minutes as the party continued on without them. It was like time stopped!!
“I know you’re acting like you’re cool and mysterious and better than this party. But I can see through you. I know how you’re really feeling. You’re nervous about being here. And don’t worry. I am too.” said Charlie White, seeing through Jessica’s charming but mysterious facade and straight into her beautiful golden soul.
Jessica Blue and Charlie White danced the whole night away, staring deeply into each other’s soulful eyes. They were like two halves of the same whole. In the morning, as the party was winding down, Charlie kneeled on the sticky floor of Mia Cole’s house and said, “Will you marry me, Jessica Blue?”
“Ahhh!!!!!” said Jessica Blue’s best friend. “Say yes!!!!!” All of the girls in the room burst into tears and all the guys gave each other fist bumps.
Jessica looked into Charlie’s intense eyes and thought about how she never would’ve met the love of her life if she skipped Mia Cole’s crazy rager banger party. “Yes!” she said, squealing and bursting into tears and also laughing and blushing. “I love you more than three thousand oceans, Charlie White!”
Jessica Blue and Charlie White got married two weeks later. Jessica wore a white dress with a sweetheart neckline and a mermaid-tail hem and red converse instead of high heels. Charlie wore a navy blue suit and suspenders. They had a taco truck at their wedding.
But something was still missing from Jessica Blue’s life, because even though she was a wife she was still a feminist. “I wish I could still be a journalist,” she told Charlie one night. Then she had a brilliant idea and ran out of the room!
Jessica started a student news publication at Columbia called Bwog, which was a combination of Blue and White Blog, after her and her husband’s last names. She wrote lots of stories about student events, campus happenings, and important breaking news! Charlie White attended every meeting (which were held at Lerner 510 at 9 pm) and brought green grapes for the staff writers and editors to snack on while they pitched ideas. Finally, Jessica had everything she ever wanted and they all lived happily ever after.
“Oh, Charlie White,” said Jessica Blue. “I love you almost as much as I love Bwog!!!!” Charlie chuckled fondly at his wife because he knew she was a funny person who loved to crack jokes.
