Somehow cities come together to reduce congestion with higher prices. Also, look who’s been brought back to Twitter (Sorry Elon, we just wouldn’t call it X).
Happening in the World: The Louvre Museum in Paris is raising its ticket price from 17 to 22 euros starting January to offset rising energy costs and support free local admissions. This increase coincides with the city’s preparations for the 2023 Summer Olympics, which are driving up prices across Paris. The hike is part of the Louvre’s broader efforts, led by President Laurence des Cars, to revamp the museum and reduce congestion. (NYT)
Happening in the US: Elon Musk reinstated the account of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. This decision came after a poll showed 70% support for Jones’s reinstatement. Jones, banned in 2018 for abusive behavior, had previously called the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting a hoax. Musk, advocating for free speech, faces new challenges as advertisers pull out over concerns of hate speech and antisemitism. (AP News)
Happening in NYC: New York City is set to implement congestion pricing tolls in Manhattan, with charges of $15 for passenger cars and up to $36 for large trucks entering below 60th Street. There has been a significant increase in police action against “ghost cars”—vehicles with deceptive license plates to dodge tolls and speed cameras. Despite increased enforcement and public reporting, many continue to evade penalties. (Gothamist)
Happening in Our Community: Core Stuio is holding a Paper Marbling Session on Tuesday, Dec 12, from 1 PM to 2 PM.
