Happening in the World: France’s Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, has pushed through a budget bill through the lower house of Parliament without a vote. After last year’s elections left the French Parliament with no clear majority, the prospect of a government collapse is looming. The Far-Right Party has continuously dangled the threat of a no-confidence motion, even with Barnier warning of serious economic turbulence. (NY Times)

Happening in the US: President Joe Biden issued a full and unconditional pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, after repeatedly insisting he would not do so. The pardon waives a federal conviction for illegally buying a gun and tax evasion. Biden stated he decided to pardon Hunter because the charges against him were politically motivated. (NY Times)

Happening in NYC: For the past year, thousands of tiny duck figurines have captured the attention of children in Chelsea. The toys, the size of nickels with a little magnet attached to the base, are now a Pokemon-style sensation for kids. The man behind the figurines is a man named Brian, who is exceedingly private and wants to keep his identity a secret. However, another community member soon stepped up to contribute some ducks. JJ Cerillo runs an Instagram account called @Chelseaduckmags, where Cerillo posts places where his ducks end up. (The Gothamist)
