Happening in the world: Extinction Rebellion climate activists floated a replica suburban house along the river Thames and past London Bridge in an “attempt to send an SOS to the government on climate inaction.” (CNN)

Happening in the US: Hundreds of daily record lows from New Mexico to New Jersey are expected to be broken as cold, snow, and ice move across the nation. The National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center tweeted “148 daily record lows are currently forecast to be broken, tied, or come within 1 degree between Tuesday and Thursday this week.” (USA Today)

Happening in New York: Thousands of people in NYCHA public housing woke up without heating and hot water on Saturday with at least 17 more outages planned over the next week or two to deal with heat and water issues. (CBS)

Happening on Campus: At 6:30 pm today, in the Diana Event Oval, activist and Bronx-born documentarian Vivian Vázquez Irizarry will be screening her documentary A Decade of Fire, focusing on the rash of fires that plagued Black and Puerto Rican neighborhoods in the South Bronx in the 1970s, and explores racist and neglectful policies that still affect modern cities.
