Happening in the World: As the conflict in Sudan reaches its six-month mark, the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company tower in Khartoum burned down during a clash between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). One of the tallest buildings in Sudan’s capital, the city has become a center ground for fighting as the ethnic conflict has killed more than 4,000 people and forced more than one million to flee. Happening in the US: A decade ago, a majority of fatal overdoses in the United States were not caused by Fentanyl. Now? A UCLA study reports that nearly ⅔ of fatal overdoses in the United States are now driven by Fentanyl, half of that from Fentanyl alone and half by Fentanyl with stimulants. Moreover, the scope of overdoses has no discrete geographic or demographic epicenter; deaths are happening all over the country and in all racial groups—from Connecticut to Mississippi and California to West Virginia. Happening in NYC: For the first time since 2019, New York City hosted a climate march. The march brought tens of thousands of protesters to Lower Manhattan to urge President Biden and the federal government to eliminate fossil fuels and declare a climate emergency. These rallying cries were made from high school students to Representatives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The protest came after a weekend filled with similar protests across the globe, leading into the Climate Week meetings occurring later this week at the United Nations. (NYT)

From 12 to 1 pm is President Luis Abinader Corona of the Dominican Republic and from 4 to 5 pm is President Roberta Metsola of the European Parliament.
