Anyone see a black Isuzu pickup? The Royal family is looking for it. Editor’s Note: mentions of death.
Happening in the World: Burglars broke into Windsor Castle Estate, the main residence of Prince William, his wife Catherine, and their three children, last month and stole a black Isuzu pickup and a red quad bike. Prince William and his family may have been home during the incident, but they were believed not to have been in direct danger. This is the second major security breach at Windsor Castle in recent years, but not as serious as the last one on Christmas Day in 2021, where one man in black claimed he was there to kill the Queen. Happening in the US: The Pink House, beloved by artists and locals on Boston’s North Shore, is battered, uninhabited, and originally scheduled for demolition. When the U.S. Fish and Wildlife announced in August that the house would be torn down, an uprising among admirers, a 1 million dollar gift from an anonymous donor, and an intervention by Governor Maura Haley paused the demolition. The air of romantic tragedy seems to draw artists and creatives to its preservation, despite the Park Rangers and Fish and Wildlife advocating for its destruction. (NY Times)
Happening in NYC: The NYC Council will hold an oversight hearing on Monday to address the dangers of subway surfing, which has claimed six lives this year. The hearing is set to begin at 10 am and MTA Chief of Security, MTA Special Council, and Department of Education Security Director are all among the officials who are expected to testify. The hearing comes just a couple weeks after a young teen was killed and another was critically injured while surfing on the 7 line in Queens. (The Gothamist)
