Happening in the World: During a meeting with Abdullah II, the King of Jordan, Trump communicated his plan to take over Gaza and move its Palestinian inhabitants to nearby countries in the Middle East. Jordan, one of the countries that Trump plans to use to house these Palestinians, rejected Trump’s proposal with a “steadfast position against the displacement of Palestinians,” as Abdullah said. Jordan is not in favor of this plan because it is a breach of international law, and their country might be unable to house the number of Palestinians that Trump plans to displace. After meeting with King Abdullah, Trump remains firm in his plan to take over Gaza and move the Palestinian people to Jordan, Egypt, and other nearby countries. (BBC)

On Monday, DOGE posted a statement on X saying that the Education Department had terminated 89 contracts, as well as 29 research grants. Without these research grants, organizations such as the American Institutes for Research and AEM Education Services will be unable to continue providing research and assistance to improve the education system in the United States.
