Giving Back at Columbia: Pathways to Community Impact

  • Tuesday, December 2, 7:30 to 8:30 pm, Pupin 313.
  • Co-hosted by the Hispanic Pre-Law Society and Black Pre-Law Society, this meeting will explore how students of color can give back to their community. They will discuss Project Rousseau, Students for Sanctuary, and Criminal Justice Coalition, among other resources.

Taste of China: Midnight Garden

  • Saturday, December 6, 5:30 to 8 pm, Low Library Faculty Room.
  • The 2025 Taste of China hosted by the Chinese Students Club will feature different regional cuisines of Chinese foods, alongside performances from student music groups. Early bird tickets are $10.

  • This interdisciplinary event features panelists Angela Olinto, Professor of Astronomy and of Physics and Provost, Columbia University, Andrew Jack, Global Education Editor, Financial Times, and Michael Belinsky, Director in the AI Institute, Schmidt Sciences. Joy Goddess: A’Lelia Walker and the Harlem Renaissance

  • Tuesday, December 2, 6 to 8 pm, The Forum Atrium West.
  • A special documentation of Harlem Renaissance history, A’Lelia Bundles’ book about her great-grandmother describes the rise of A’Lelia Walker, an heiress and patron of the arts. This event will discuss Joy Goddess and Walker’s intellectual and social life during the 1920s.

Immigration in NYC: Policy, Belonging, and the Future of Sanctuary

  • Tuesday, December 2, 7 to 9 pm, Jerome Greene Hall.
  • As part of the Eric H. Holder Jr. Initiative for Civil and Political Rights, this panel centers on the state of immigration in New York City. Speakers include Elora Mukherjee, Director of the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic at Columbia Law School, and Faiza Patel, Senior Director at the Brennan Center for Justice.
