Something was a little different when we got back to campus… it’s hard to put a finger on…

I never thought I’d see a day where Barnard stretched beyond Barnard Hall, Milstein, and Diana (with a long spooky scaffolding tunnel to Milbank). Only having begun in Fall 2024, I’ve never seen those big grassy steps. And I can now take the back way without risking life and limb on Claremont because they’re cutting off half the street.

I haven’t found the time yet to explore the new science center with its bird friendly dot windows (#environmentallyconscious) but it’s almost weird to have a campus feel like… an actual campus? Not just a loose collection of buildings? Is this how Barnard was always supposed to look?

In the immortal words of Jeff Buckley, it’s never over (see the Broadway Ave scaffolding) but at least the seemingly infinite drilling has paused for now. (Actually, are they still drilling?) Goodbye, ominous outdoor hallway with Grace Hopper quote… Barnard construction, while not fully gone, will never be fully forgotten, either.
