Happy lil’ turtle free of plastic beer parts.

While many of you may have been packing and preparing to head off for Thanksgiving Break, we at Bwog started our weekend out right with a (somewhat) wholesome evening with our annual Symposium dinner. However, as you probably know, shit hit the fan and we went a little wild. Here’s a summary of this weekend’s endeavors by yours truly, the Bwog Staff.

Bwog and Food:

  • Made a pumpkin chocolate chip loaf!
  • Ate a Philly Cheese Steak on the subway on my way to be an educator for a Jewish kids program.
  • Went shopping for friendsgiving ingredients planning to spend $50 and spent $150.
  • Made an amazing friendsgiving meal using “borrowed” pots/pans/utensils.
  • Tried kratom tea, a borderline-legal substance that supposedly mimics the effect of opioids. Tasted like dirt and did not deliver.
  • Ended my vegetarianism and have not looked back.

.
Bwog and Alcohol:

  • Got drunk and yelled at my friend for contributing to the death of sea turtles when drinking from a six pack of beer (that had the plastic rings around them).
  • Went drunk grocery shopping at 6pm after happy hour at a rosé bar did me dirty.
  • Went to 1020 for the first time since early September.
  • Thought I was going to a Greek dinner but just had Sangria for dinner instead.
  • Rallied in order to go to a party on half an hour of sleep by downing coffee spiked with vodka.
  • Drank so much alcohol but still wasn’t tipsy enough to enjoy the crowded Bacchanal party.
  • Went to Midtown and drank wine out of a water bottle for the night.

Bwog in the City:

  • Missed almost all of my English seminar prof’s Met tour, half because I was late to the museum and half because, once I got to the museum, she didn’t answer any of my calls/texts asking where the class was and I had to wander aimlessly for half an hour to find them.
  • Went to 2 birthday parties downtown in one night – sushi/sake then karaoke. The Korean employees at the karaoke bar gave me 2 free bottles of champagne (i.e. cheap sparkling wine) because I spoke Korean and was nice to them.
  • Went to the Rangers game with my dad and bonded. Had a good time being assholes together.
  • Went to the Michelangelo exhibit at the Met and was totally blown away.
  • Trekked all over Brooklyn trying to get my gf to her psych appointment in Bay Ridge. Ended up in Borough Park (a Hasidic Jewish community) bc the N train was running on the D line. Traveled by uber through Chinese, Spanish, and Muslim neighborhoods to finally make it to the appointment only 30 min late.
  • Had woke conversations about poverty and hunger with 5 and 6 year olds.
  • Spent half the day on the subway because I went out of state (Brooklyn).

Bwog on Campus:

  • Got nailed in the head by a friend charging right at me – not my most “Columbia” moment, but at least I (probably) won’t need to get stitches!
  • Went to the Wind Ensemble’s amazing fall concert.
  • Acted as a bouncer at someone else’s EC party and questioned people’s validity for being part of a club I’m not even in.
  • Snuck a special someone into a special study spot with a scenic view of the sunset.
  • Saw a secret Sofar show and made some new friends!
  • Hooked up with a guy just because he had really nice glasses.
  • Called Academy Dispatch for the last time.
