Bwoglines: Jeff Bezos Versus The World Edition

Happening in the World: The Canadian diplomats to Cuba are suing the Canadian government for their inaction over an apparent epidemic known as Havana Syndrome. The government has insinuated that the symptoms, characterized as memory loss, dizziness, nausea, and headaches, could be psychosomatic. The real question is: would you rather a vacation with Havana Syndrome or an Ivy League education with Meningitis B? (NPR)

Happening in the US: Jeff Bezos is back in the headlines this week, this time accusing the National Enquirer of extortion in a Medium post. Sounds like a good day for Medium and a bad day for Jeff. In what appears to be part of some elaborate mindgame for the wealthy and bored in this simulation we call life, Bezos alleged that the Enquirer blackmailed him with a “below-the-belt selfie.” How much are your nudes going for nowadays? (NY Times)

Happening in NYC: Popular GPS app Waze was added to the long list of things the NYPD hates. In a letter to Google, the NYPD demanded that the app remove indications of police presence on the road, alerting drivers to police checkpoints. There’s a joke somewhere here about surveillance and turning tables. (CNN)

Happening on Campus: Bold Brilliant Beats will be happening in the Glicker-Milstein Theater, featuring performances by BbyMutha, Dounia, and Columbia’s very own Bay B. Bop (feat. Wylee). Doors open at 8 PM. Be sure to line up for that waitlist, though.

Happening on the Web: Flickr is now asking users if their photos bring them joy in a mass photo dump to come later this year. The online photo storage site, recently bought by SmugMug, will begin limiting photo storage to 1,000 photos and terminating its access to a single terabyte of storage per user. (Vox)

Overseen: This atrocity from the Bwogstagram. Just why?
