Happening in the World:  39 people were found dead in a truck at an industrial park In the English town of Grays, 20 miles east of London on Wednesday. The container arrived from a Belgian port city early Wednesday before it was transported by the truck to Industrial Park. Authorities arrested a 25-year-old truck driver from Northern Ireland on suspicion of murder; the victims have not been identified (CNN).

Happening in the US: Some see the recent outbreak of vaping related illnesses and deaths as “evidence in the case for decriminalizing marijuana at the federal level.” States’ failure to regulate THC cartridges leads experts to hypothesize the possibility of a contaminant in the US supply chain that’s sickening people; 47% of THC-containing products that the FDA tested, contained the unsafe vitamin E acetate. Many hope that federal legalization will ultimately “allow for a more uniform and predictable and clear set of rules [to] regulate consumer markets” (Vox)

Happening in New York: New York state brought Exxon Mobil to court this Tuesday to begin trials for a suit filed last year because “the company lied to shareholders and to the public about the costs and consequences of climate change.” Since the initial filing, there has been an extensive investigation into the company including allegations of a chief executive’s private email accounts, but Exxon is confident there was no wrongdoing (NYT)
