In light of yesterday’s incident, many places on campus are hosting memorial dinners and events.
3-6pm
Earl Hall
Open at this time today and Friday 12/13 “all students, faculty and staff to be in community with one another. Columbia also said that individuals from “Counseling and Psychological Services and Religious Life Advisers will be present.”
5pm
Lerner Hall Auditorium
Columbia dining will hold their “planned Columbia University winter dinner.” Come for comfort and company.
4-6pm
Altschul Atrium
Barnard Student Life said there will be “various chilis (vegetarian and turkey), hors d’oeuvres, and desserts available for those who would like something to eat.”
6:30-8:30pm
Saint Paul’s Chapel
Columbia University sent an email that the Chapel will be open “for anyone who would like a quiet place to sit, pray and reflect.”
7pm
Event Oval in the Diana Center
Come for dinner and “words of remembrance.”
7:30pm
Moment of Silence
Columbia officials stated that the “Saint Paul’s Chapel bell will ring.”

First year space at 204 Barnard Hall
First-Year Writing and First-Year Seminar programs have reserved 204 Barnard Hall for the entire day as a space for first year students to gather.Snacks, tissues, and tea are provided.

@Bernie I hope the investigation continues in a most intelligent manner.those killers just become video cams in the area from Amsterdam av to st nicholas av, on the east edge of the park. The vids should be scanned not only the day of the incident but for a month or so before to get a list of suspects .
Harassing non university people on or near campus because of your fears will not prevent additional incidents nor find the perps in ms majors death.
@Anonymous Remember. If you see someone who doesn’t look like they belong on campus or is suspiciously lurking near campus, call the police. It’s not “racist”, it’s common sense. Better to be safe given the violent acts certain people are committing in the area.

Please DON’T call the police if you ASSUME somebody doesn’t belong. This is called profiling. However, if somebody ACTS suspiciously, please reach out to public safety [ (212) 854-2797 ]. It’s sad that you began with the assumption that whoever ‘lurks’ will be of any specific race.
