Bwoglines: Bureaucracy Is Bad Edition

This Tuesday, Bwog takes a look at restructuring in Boy Scouts of America, a step up for women in India’s military, and the quiet hell that is the DMV.

Happening in the World: A new ruling by India’s Supreme Court has ruled that female officers in the military will now be able to attain higher ranks alongside men as well as gain new benefits when serving. (CNN)

Happening in the US: Boy Scouts of America have officially filed for bankruptcy amid multiple abuse claims numbering in the thousands over the decades. With around 2.4 million youth as members, the filing is expected to help push higher ups in the organization out who have helped cover up the abuse. (NY Times)

Happening in New York: New Rules regarding Real ID for driver’s licenses have clogged up DMV’s across the state and especially in the city. While striving to make air travel safer, many worry about how Real ID Licenses are unable to be obtained by undocumented individuals. (NY Times)

Happening on Campus: This afternoon there will be a screening of a documentary on the life of investigative journalist and Duma representative Yury Shchekochikhin in his effort to expose corruption and champion democracy in post-Soviet Russia. The screening starts at 6:00 PM and will be followed by a panel. (Columbia Events)

Tuesday Joshcore: This week I have for you The Revival (Live) by organist and absolute madman Cory Henry. Possibly the most impressive album I’ve ever listened to, this album is a mix of gospel, jazz, funk, soul, and insanity in the finest sense. Check it out if you want to hear what heaven sounds like.
