Happening in the World: Death tolls for the Coronavirus continue to rise in Mainland China with 1,000 reported deaths and over 43,000 infected world-wide. (CNN)

Happening in the US: President Trump calls for a budget increase to contribute to research and development of new nuclear warheads as well as the development of further conventional weaponry. (New York Times)

Happening in New York: Following the shooting and detainment of a Brooklyn resident by ICE agents, questions are rising over how sanctuary cities will interact with ICE as well as President Trump’s heavy anti-immigration platform. (New York Times)

Happening on Campus: Tonight, Beth C. Rubin will be hosting a talk called “’Mommy, Wouldn’t I Have Been a Slave Back Then:’ Pastness as Position in Reconsidering History Education,” in which she will be discussing how we engage with younger students regarding topics of history such as slavery and colonialism. The event will take place a 6:00 PM in Sulzberger Parlor. (Barnard Events)
