I’m so ready for everyone to be on campus…! but I’m happy to wait a bit longer while vaccines are still being produced so everyone stays safe.

Happening in the World: In Moscow, Russia, thousands of COVID-19 vaccines will be given out this weekend to school, social, and health workers who signed up. The vaccine created in Russia is called Sputnik V is 95% effective and said to have minor side effects (BBC).

Happening in the US: The House of Representations passed a bill federally decriminalizing marijuana Friday afternoon. In addition to expunging the records of nonviolent marijuana offenses, the bill also would make grants and loans easier to obtain for cannabis business owners and use taxes to reinvest in communities harmed by the drug war (BBC).

Happening in New York: By the end of December, over 450,000 COVID-19 total vaccines will arrive in New York City from companies Pfizer and Moderna. Mayor Bill de Blasio plans on distributing vaccines first to health care workers and nursing home residents and workers (Gothamist).
