Happening in the US: The first shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine will be arriving in America on Monday, totaling nearly 3 million doses. Doses will first be shipped for healthcare workers and those at long-term care facilities. A booster shot will be sent out afterwards for those who receive the vaccine. Moderna vaccines will also be shipped later this year, projected to reach 40 million doses by the end of the year. (Washington Post)
Happening in NYC: A woman was arrested after deliberately driving her car into a crowd of about 50 Black Lives Matter protestors in Manhattan on Friday. The protest was organized to draw attention to undocumented people who are held in detainment by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The woman, Kathleen Casillo, has been charged with reckless endangerment . (The Guardian)
Happening in Our Community: The Columbia Toy Drive for Harlem and Morningside Heights has been extended until December 17th. Donate new and unwrapped tools for local non-profit organizations to distribute for families in Harlem and Morningside Heights. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some organizations are requesting monetary funds instead of toys. (Donate here)
