Everything happens for a reason.
Name, School, Major, Hometown: Julia Masch, Columbia College, Applied Math and Econ Double Major, Warren, NJ
Major: Applied Math and Econ Double Major
Claim to fame: Never waiting in line for Mel’s or Amity (thanks Manny)
Where are you going? Downtown
What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2025?
1. Get class recommendations from upperclassmen (in your major or otherwise).
2. Take classes with friends (It’s more bearable if you can study or work with people). If you don’t have any friends in a class, make some (I may have slid into some Zoom DMs this semester…)
3. Everything happens for a reason (even if it sucks at the moment) and will usually work itself out in the end.
“Back in my day…” We had Amigos Margarita Mondays.
Favorite Columbia controversy? The whole Marching Band debacle (getting defunded, refunded, and disbanded within 6 months).
What was your favorite class at Columbia? Edward Mendelson’s Lit Hum
Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese? Pizza, Mozzarella sticks, Mac and cheese…
Whom would you like to thank? The ButCaf staff, all of my professors who have rounded up grades, Mike from Carman, and anyone who’s ever worked with me on a problem set.
One thing to do before graduating: Go to the roof of Butler.
Any regrets? Honestly, my time at Columbia was phenomenal and I can’t imagine it any differently (besides the whole pandemic thing).
