Weekly Roundup of how COVID is progressing at the Columbia community.
This week, there were 8492 tests conducted with 36 tests coming back positive for a 0.42% positivity rate. The positivity rate is up from 0.24% last week. There were 180 less tests conducted this week compared to last week. 67 are in isolation, 123 in quarantine, and 1 is hospitalized. This weeks positivity rate is slightly higher than the cumulative positivity rate (0.41%).
Of the 6723 tests done at the Morningside, Manhattanville, and Lamont-Doherty campuses, 0.45% of students tested positive, and 0.41% of faculty and staff tested positive. Of the 1643 tests done at the CUIMC campus, 0.33% of students are positive and 0.42% of faculty and staff are positive.
Since June 22, 2020, Columbia has conducted 158,740 tests with 646 being positive for a 0.41% cumulative positivity rate.
This week, there were 2672 tests conducted with 3 tests coming back positive for a 0.10% positivity rate. The positivity rate is down 0.02% from last week. There were 88 less tests conducted this week compared to last week. 9 people are in isolation and 11 are in quarantine.
Since August 8, 2020, Barnard has conducted 28,368 tests with 63 being positive for a 0.22% cumulative positivity rate. Since January 8, 2021, there have been 20 positive tests.
Bars, restaurants, and fitness centers are to close from 10 pm to 5 am every day. On Friday, February 12, 2021, restaurants and bars were allowed to reopen indoor dining at 25% capacity, but are still expected to close from 10 pm to 5 am daily. Takeout (except alcoholic beverages) is allowed past 10 pm. Middle schools in NYC will reopen while high schools will remain remote until further notice. Currently, New Yorkers are expected to maintain 6 feet of distance or wear a face-covering/mask when this is not possible, like on public transportation. As of Friday, November 13, private indoor and or outdoor gatherings of 10+ people are not allowed.
New York is currently in phase 1A and 1B of the vaccine rollout. As of February 23, 2021 at 9:30 AM, 893,201 New Yorkers are partially vaccinated and 501,464 are fully vaccinated.
