This week’s ESC General Body Meeting featured position updates from several council members.

Student Body President Kennedy Salamat (‘23) noted that the Policy committee drafted the academic adjustments proposal. She also noted that she should have more news about potentially establishing a linguistics minor soon.

VP Policy Angel Mancera (‘23) drafted a “State of Mental Health” survey. He plans to send this out to students to gauge how they are doing during this semester and to see how students’ mental wellbeing compares to previous semesters.

VP Student Life Matthew Wahl (‘23) shared updates on several upcoming events. Tree lighting will be held on December 2nd from 5-7 PM at Low Plaza and College Walk and will feature performances from some of Columbia’s musical groups. Yule Ball will be on December 10th in Lerner with catered grab and go food. A possible ice skating event is also in the works for sometime in the next few weeks.

The class councils shared events that they are working on. The Class of 2022 Council members noted that Senior Pub will be on Saturday. The Class of 2023 Council hosted a Hex&Co event before Thanksgiving break and is planning a therapy dog event for Sunday December 12th. The Class of 2025 Council is working with CCSC to plan a gingerbread making competition.
