Bwogline: Oregon Governor Kate Brown has announced that she will commute the sentences of all the state’s death row inmates. In one of her final acts in office, she has chosen to reduce the 17 inmates’ sentences to life without parole because she finds the death penalty “immoral.” Oregon is one of 27 states who still has the death penalty on the books, but the state’s last execution was in 1997.
