Sleep is invaluable.

Name, School, Major, Hometown: Isobel, BC, Cognitive and Computer Science, Seattle, WA!

Claim to fame: Never pulled an all nighter!

Where are you going? Home to work as a backpacking and climbing instructor for the summer and then traveling in the Fall! And then who the hell knows what will happen.

What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2027?

  1. If you are dating someone and you think you should maybe break up, 99% of the time you should definitely break up. 100% of the time if that person is not in the same city as you.
  2. Never stay up past 1 am for an assignment. I promise you that’s not the way to get your work done.
  3. Join at least one club but no more than 4 clubs. Preferably join the climbing club.

“Back in my day…” You wouldn’t get canceled if you went to 1020 after an EC party </3

Favorite Columbia controversy? President Beilock referring to Barnard as Dartmouth

What was your favorite class at Columbia? A class that I still think about from first year is Origins of Human Society with Severin Fowles, it made me so excited to be at college and I cried multiple times in lecture (but that might just be indicative of my mental state first year). A class that actually changed how I think about language is Word and Grammar with William Foley. If you’re interested in linguistics take this class!

Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese? At the risk of my future employers thinking I’m a prude, oral sex? I’m sorry, but as someone who can naturally process dairy, I’m not going to give up the gift that is cheese.

Whom would you like to thank? The best friend/roommate ever Grace Stone for keeping me sane for 4 years; Robert Remez, the best PI/college father figure I could ask for; the entire Columbia Climbing Club for getting me out of the city regularly and also providing basically all of my friends and inflating my ego by calling me Madame President for 3 years.

One thing to do before graduating: Climb on the roof of at least one building (Butler roof is very easy to access)

Any regrets? Going to frat parties and kissing minimum 3 different men every weekend during freshman year. Please make sure to get fake IDs BEFORE you start college kids.
