Book Talk: The Originalism Trap by Madiba Dennie

  • The Center for Constitutional Governance, If/When/How: Law Students For Reproductive Justice, Black Law Students Association, the Columbia ERA Project, and the American Constitution Society will host a talk with author Madiba K. Dennie about her book The Originalism Trap: How Extremists Stole the Constitution and How We the People Can Take It Back. This event will be moderated by Columbia Law School Professor Olatunde Johnson.

Book Talk: Our Nation at Risk by Julian Zelizer & Karen Greenberg

  • Tuesday, October 1, 5 pm, Jerome Greene Hall, Room 101.
  • The Center for Constitutional Governance will host a talk with Julian E. Zelizer and Karen J. Greenberg about their book, Our Nation at Risk: Election Integrity as a National Security Issue. This event will be moderated by Stanley H. Fuld Professor of Law Jeremy Kessler.

Dear Unknown Friend: Correspondence between American & Soviet Women

  • Tuesday, October 1, 12:15 to 1:45 pm, International Affairs Building, Marshall D. Shulman Seminar Room, 1219.
  • The Harriman Institute will host a book talk with Alexis Peri, an Associate Professor of History at Boston University, on the pen-pal correspondence between American and Soviet women during World War II and the Cold War. The book talk will be in discussion by Yana Skorobogatov and moderated by Elise Giuliano.

Austro-Hungarian and Serbian War Literature

  • Wednesday, October 2, 6:30 to 8:30 pm, International Affairs Building, Marshall D. Shulman Seminar Room, 1219.
  • The Njegoš Endowment for Serbian Language and Culture will host a lecture by Gordana Ilić Marković and moderated by Aleksandar Bošković. During the event, Dr. Marović will discuss WWI in the world of Miroslav Krleža and Ivo Anrdić and the diaries and memoirs of South Slavs and Austrian soldiers and civilians.

Suntory Beverage & Food’s Globalization and Sustainability

  • Thursday, October 3, 12:45 to 1:45 pm, Geffen Hall, Board Rooms 320 & 330.
  • This event, open to Columbia University community members and affiliates of the Center on Japanese Economy and Business, will feature Makiko Ono, the President and CEO of Suntory Beverage & Food Limited, in conversation with David E. Weinstein, the Director of CJEB and Carl S. Shoup Professor of the Japanese Economy at Columbia. They will discuss history of SBF and its strategy for future growth, DEI in the business, and sustainability initiatives.
