Who else needs a break from the sense of impending doom?

1. Abbott Elementary

This genuinely might be the funniest show I’ve ever seen. It’s a workplace comedy following a group of teachers and their principal at a Philadelphia public school. It also happens to have one of the best slow-burn romances I’ve ever seen. And if you happen to be as obsessed as I am and never want to finish the show, don’t worry! Season 4 is still coming out every Wednesday, and if it isn’t renewed for at least 5 more seasons, ABC will have me to answer to.

2. Anne With An E

If you grew up reading Anne of Green Gables and you haven’t watched this show, you are not living life right. Set in the late 1890’s the series is based on the classic book following young orphan Anne Shirley as she moves in with an old brother and sister who wanted a boy, and struggles to fit into her new community. While this show was tragically cut short after 3 seasons, the last season still has a satisfying conclusion and is well worth watching. The cinematic shots of Prince Edward’s Island are gorgeous and will give you a glimpse of nature while you live within Butler for the next week.

3. Heartbreak High

This hilarious and heartfelt Australian coming-of-age show follows Amerie as she copes with her best friend Harper suddenly hating her and the revelation of the “sex map” they made together of everyone at their school. The show is full of drama and has an amazing ensemble of supporting characters that all have their own complexities. The show is two seasons but has been renewed for a third and final season coming soon!

4. Derry Girls

I think I have watched this show at least 10 times but it never gets old. Also one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen, Derry Girls follows a friend group of four teenage girls from Derry, Ireland (and one guy from England) during The Troubles. The group gets into incredible antics including being suspected of killing a nun in detention and setting their neighbor’s house on fire, just to give you an idea! The three seasons are only 6-7 episodes each, so one could easily binge the whole thing in a night if you really need a pick-me-up after studying all day.

5. The Wilds

This show chronicles the story of eight girls on their way to a young women’s empowerment retreat in Hawaii when their plane crashes into the ocean, leaving them stranded on an island. The show takes countless twists and turns so I can’t say too much but it is truly addictive. Each episode of the first season follows a different character on the island and uses flashbacks to show her life before the plane crash. This series is guaranteed to give you an escape from your finals related anxiety and give you other things to be anxious about!

Other honorable mentions:

  • Brooklyn 99
  • Warrior Nun
  • Dash and Lily
  • Shadow and Bone
  • Young Royals

Happy watching!
