Happening in the World: A suicide bombing has killed at least 50 people and left more than 100 injured in Kunduz, Afghanistan. Though no group has claimed to have orchestrated the attack, the Afghan affiliate of the extremist Islamic State group IS-K is suspected to be responsible (BBC).

Happening in the US: California has become the first state to prohibit the removal of a condom without consent during sexual intercourse. This bill means that “stealthing,” the act of removing a condom without consent, has now been added to California’s definition of sexual battery. Other states, such as Wisconsin and New York, are in the process of following suit with similar legislation (NBC).

Happening in NYC: A bill has recently been introduced that would require all performers, athletes, and related staff, including those from out of town, to show proof of vaccination. This comes after Joe Rogan’s Madison Square performance last weekend, which stirred concerns amongst city officials due to the fact that the comedian (a self-proclaimed ivermectin enthusiast) has yet to confirm whether or not he has been vaccinated against COVID-19. Now, New York City legislators have come forth and demanded Mayor Bill de Blasio close this loophole in his Key To NYC executive order that was passed this August. Currently, performers and athletes from out of town are not required to show proof of vaccination, despite the strict vaccination demands required of city residents (Gothamist).
