Look at the moon!
Name, School, Major Hometown:
Ji Yoon, Barnard, Architecture, Warren NJ <3
Claim to fame:
Certified sphere lover. Also the co-captain of the OG Chimera, the A-team of Columbia’s Women and Gender Diverse Ultimate Frisbee. Not a pro-frisbee player like my other co-captain, but I am her co-captain. (Shoutout Eastelle Ding on NY Gridlock).
Where are you going?
I never really know, but definitely to the moon someday.
What are three things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2028?
1. Things work out without fail. You are going to be doubtful, and you are going to be stressed. But in the end, you will find yourself happy, sometimes, and content, always. 2. Hewitt pizza is unmatched.
3. Consideration is the best quality in a person. Cherish considerate people!!!
“Back in my day…”
Milstein’s Sushi and Boba Shop was Peets, a second coffee shop to Liz’s. All love to Milstein sushi but things were easier when Liz’s lines didn’t go out the door.
Favorite Columbia lore?
Columbia’s top-secret lore was that the Low Library flagpoles were made of pure pine wood wow!!!!! But then the Great Winds of March 11, 2024 snapped them in half and now everyone knows about it :/
What was your favorite class at Columbia?
Architectural Criticism with Suzanne Stephens
Advanced Architectural Design I & II
and Combinatorics with Dave Bayer
Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese?
Cheese is a daily necessity for me!
Whom would you like to thank?
Chae Yoon, Mom, and Dad, for always being supportive in every way possible. Thanks for having faith in me even through my questionably spontaneous life choices. // My Curbside-Chimera teammates and coaches, for three years of blood, sweat, tears, and beautiful memories. I couldn’t have asked for a better college community. I felt so much love and emotions with you all, tossing around a little moon-shaped plastic! // My architecture buddies, for keeping me sane during our VERY FREQUENT all-nighters together. It is so brutal sometimes. I am thinking of my junior friends. You guys got this. // To anyone who has ever waved to me on campus. You made that day 100 times better for me. I love saying hi to you. // ZACH, for everything. What would I do without you! I share all the glory of my accomplishments to you.
So many more… spec illo alumni, understanding professors, friends, and more friends… I love you all.
See you again! Soon!
One thing to do before graduating?
Try the grape fanta from the dining hall soda machines. PLEASE. Y’all keep judging me. It’s so good!!!
Any regrets?
Not becoming an architecture major sooner. I came into college wanting to study architecture but I somehow gaslit myself that it would make sense for me to major in econ and math?? DEAR GOD. It went on for a whole year and a half.
